Jasper had a blast in the kid-sized restaurant kitchen. He took to it immediately and may have even gotten in the way of some of the older kids. They were very patient with him. I know we will be back to visit the museum, mostly for the bus and the kitchen!
Our friends have a son who is three months younger than Jasper. They had been trying to meet us at the museum for a while, it finally worked for Jasper's birthday. Max is a real cute fellow!
Oops, we got busy and I missed a couple of posts. Here is a picture of Jasper with a few other kids. I love those little glasses!
The Sunday after Jasper's birthday we celebrated in two parts. First we went to a children's museum. I have loads of pictures, here's a few to get started.
He really enjoyed being on structures built for kids his size. We loved watching him be so independent.
I'm taking a break from looking back on the birthday week to do a post featuring one of today's events. Jasper has been reluctant to try art projects. I have had some luck with crayons and chalk, but this kid just does not want to get messy. As a mom with an art degree, I have tried to be very patient. Today, he was very uninhibited with his paint markers. Yay!
Speaking of uninhibited, Jasper's hair is wild! He is going to receive his first hair cut next week.
At some point, when I was not looking, he gave himself a pedicure. This might be the messiest he has ever been. These markers are washable, but I left his design on until the end of the day. Also, he arranged the markers "just so" on the table, I am not sure what to make of that.
Watch out Grandpa B, you have some competition!
We celebrated Jasper's birthday with family the following weekend. The day before, he helped me make his birthday cake. It was a yummy chocolate navy cake. Mimi sent us the recipe. I was so excited when Jasper allowed us to put on the apron I had made him a while back. I think it helped that I had mine on too.
As I was reading a book to him just before bed, Jasper noticed a mixer in the background of a kitchen scene on one of the pages. He was so excited! I was so proud. Maybe next year he will make his own birthday cake.
Jasper's gift opening skills have seen a big improvement since Christmas. Here he is opening a gift from mama and dada.
He's wearing a shirt from Mimi and Grandpa. Boy, was he excited to receive that shirt!
