Happy New Year!

Jasper is ready to ring in the new year with his bell toy! No pants necessary.

We were kind of artsy today. I made a Play-Doh bird for Jasper.

Jack gave him a guitar lesson.

And we did some painting. Jasper is not too crazy about getting his fingers wet with paint or Play-Doh, I hope that changes soon.

We wish our friends and family a wonderful 2013!

Anticipation

Grandma H came over to our house the other night with Jasper's last Christmas gifts. I love this series of photos because it shows how patient Jasper was as I removed his gift from the packaging. He has been enjoying his new little airplane. I'll try to get some more pictures of him playing with his toys for next time.

He is so excited! He's almost helping.

Fuzzy Hair

Today Jasper took a bath with his new bath toys...

And then, there was post-bath hair. Jasper looks like a tiny mad scientist as he examines my notepad.

Quick Pics

I stayed out too late! I was having some girl-time with my friend and lost track of time. We had quite a bit to catch up on. Here are two fun, non-Christmas pictures of Jasper from this month.

Jasper used to enjoy brushing his teeth, not so much any more. Here is his reaction when I ask him if he's ready to brush. After shaking his head "No", he tried to hide behind the rocker.

Jasper chills at the indoor playground.

For Us, Today was Christmas

We opened the rest of the gifts today, Jasper was finally into it.

Jasper ended up staying up way past his bedtime. We tried to put him to bed at his usual time, but he was just too excited about one gift in particular. Life is good when you have your own Dyson vacuum.

Back to Normal

I think it's safe to say that Jasper is back to his old self. He started the day being snuggly and clingy but by the evening Jack, Jasper, and I had a long jam session of playing instruments and dancing. Here are some other things he did today.

Played with his new train.

Enjoyed putting a Hershey Kiss hat on the play dough snowman I assembled for him. There's a smile!

Let me read him a new winter book.

And watched for airplanes.

Christmas Cheer

Here's the Christmas photo I was looking for! Last night I posted pictures from the camera, today I found this little gem on the iPad. Jack took this late Christmas morning, after FaceTime with Mimi, Grandpa, and the rest of the Michigan family. They sure brightened him up!

Christmas Re-cap

Have you heard of the slow food movement?  Well, in our household we are having a slow Christmas. The holiday is almost over, Jasper is asleep, but there are presents that remain unopened. Jasper has been sick the past few days and today we received some clarity on the situation. His fever broke this morning and soon after, I noticed a minor rash on his face and chest. After a search for information online and a call to the doctor, we are quite sure he has Roseola. It's nice to know what is going on and that he is on the mend. However, Jasper was quite grumpy today.

We had a Facetime Christmas with our family in Michigan, but we only opened a few gifts from them before we decided to try for another day. He did have fun interacting with them, which was great. Later, our Seattle family came for dinner and Jasper had his ups and downs. We will have to get through the gifts sometime this week. Here are some pictures:

Heading toward the tree in the morning. You can tell Jasper is not feeling too great.

It might be a little hard to tell from the picture, but Jasper LOVES this drum set from Aunt Molly.

At least these people are happy.

A fire truck from grandma!

This picture sums up how Jasper was feeling today, poor little guy. I, on the other hand, am delighted with my gift.

Here's Jack in his new Sounders shirt, about to play "Jingle Bells" on our son's new xylophone.

And here is Jack again, this time with a beard! He is so manly, he grew that in 30 seconds!

This turtle on wheels was a hit. I have another picture with Jasper riding it and he is smiling--no really. It was just too blurry to publish. We will take more fun toy pictures this week when he cheers up a bit.

In our household, Christmas is to be continued...

Merry Christmas!

For our family, it takes a village to make Christmas cookies. I wasn't really sure if we would be making cookies with Jasper this year, but Jack's cousin Debbi changed all that. She made Christmas cookies for our family party and was kind enough to make some extra dough for Jasper and I. She used a family recipe, so that made this extra special.

A couple of days later, my friend Heather hosted a cookie decorating get-together. It was there that Jasper and I rolled out the dough, cut the cookies, and baked them. Heather then provided a great work space.

This is a funny picture, but I like it...

Jasper found Heather's Tupperware stash. He has a knack for that...

By the time the cookies were done baking we had to go, it was past Jasper's nap time and he was not up to decorating. Heather sent us on our way with some wonderful royal frosting that she had made.

It took us a few days to get to actually frosting the cookies, Jasper had gotten sick. (He's much better now but for a few days he had a temperature of 104--not fun.)

Jasper caught on fast!

I think Santa just came by, take a look at our living room. Merry Christmas everyone!
