Wooden Boats and Sea Planes

This morning Jasper and I went to "Tugboat Story Time" on a 124 year-old tugboat. I wish I could have taken pictures of the boat, but it was covered in white plastic because it was being restored. It's hard to believe a wooden boat could last that long in the Pacific Northwest.

Here he is with his classmate waiting for the stories to begin.

The story teller telling us about the boat.

Jasper got a little wiggly and we ended up exploring the boat. It was not toddler-proof, so pictures weren't really an option for me. However, I think he and his school buddy enjoyed being out on the docks watching boats and sea planes take off more than the story time. The weather was beautiful and the docks were safer there, so I was able to grab some shots.

We just might be in for a rainy Memorial Day weekend, good thing we got out into the sun while we could. Jasper and I both took naps when we got home. Pregnancy has made me a very good napper these days.

Like New

Sometimes a sore back is a good thing, like when you finish one of many household projects. In this case, I finished sanding and staining the deck yesterday.

It's not perfect, but it looks a lot better and one can walk on it barefoot now without worrying about splinters. More kid-friendly!

Happy Mother's Day!

Thank you to my mom who has given my brother and I so much!

Now Jasper is lucky enough to have her, aka "Mimi" and Jack's mom, "Nana" around to receive plenty of love and attention. My mom is a retired teacher and it's so fun to see what she notices as he grows.

Here is a sweet picture of my mom with Jasper. It's from last summer, I have more recent photos, but I love how this shows how she's not afraid to get dirty to have some fun with her grandson.

Here's my current favorite picture of Jasper. This is what he does when we ask him to smile. (And I love his trucks in the background.)

Here's me being a mom. Best job ever.

Beach Picnic

We've been enjoying some gorgeous weather lately in the Seattle area. Last weekend we went to Picnic Point Park near our home for a picnic dinner and some fun in the sun.

Striking a pose.

Waiting patiently for the train!

Exploring the beach and the meaning of life.

Dragon!

Sittin' with Dad.

Snugglin' with Mom. I love this photo so much.

Jasper the Entertainer

A couple days ago, Jasper had a playdate at our home with a couple buddies. He was quite the host and entertainer! At one point he decided it would be pretty awesome to climb into this tub of water on our deck and splash around like a wild animal.

Looking longingly back to the water tub as Mom dries him off.

First Haircut

Jasper received his first haircut on April 29th. My very good friend Heather has been cutting her sons' hair for years and was kind enough to do this for us. I was super excited, strangers kept taking him for a girl and I really couldn't blame them. He did a great job despite being quite uncertain. He kept saying, "All done," but sitting there just the same. I love how he looks like a little boy now!

Before pictures, crazy hair!

We tried for a towel around his neck, but it was not meant to be.

A subtle escape attempt.

The first cut!

It almost looks like he is enjoying himself.

Just look at those curls! He still has some, don't fret.

Here is an after picture from later that night. No more mad scientist hair!

Here is another after shot of Jasper and I at the beach on Saturday. Who has the crazy hair now?

Cake Time

Dad lights the candles.

Anticipation...

Jasper takes this cake business seriously.
