Thanksgiving Recap in Pictures (mostly)

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Both sides of our family were at our place for the big feast. We had a potluck with my mom cooking the turkey. It was so nice to hang out with everyone.

Jasper also pitched in.

Jack, Jasper, Joe, and I had some snuggle time in bed this morning. We were a cozy family of four.

I love not Black Friday-ing. PJ truck time!

It's a Boy!

Yesterday we welcomed our newest family member into the world. Joseph Levi arrived at 7:54 am, weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces. He is 19 inches long and has a full head of hair. So far he has proven to be a great eater and a decent sleeper. When you have one child, you love them more than anything, how amazing it is to discover that you can fall in love with another child just as much all over again.

Jasper at Two and a Half

I have been meaning to write a post about what Jasper is up to lately. Jack took this picture today and now I have to write it. Two and a half is full of challenges: negotiations, tantrums, disbelief in the time it takes to leave the house, but the trade off is seeing your child's personality emerge.

Jasper is kind and gentle. Unless he has the chance to jump on a bed or in a bouncy house, then he is crazypants.

He is quiet, but not terribly shy. He seems to warm up around new people quickly.

He is independent and almost never asks me to pick him up. This has been so very nice during pregnancy.

Jasper is not a morning person.

He has just recently become more likely to be affectionate without suggestion. It is so sweet. And as you can see from the picture, he can be very sweet toward the baby.

Back in October he took a parent/tot swim class with me. Bath time has been amazing ever since. He has new confidence in the water.

Jasper has been hanging out with his Mimi and Baba quite a bit these days. I think this has helped him begin to use sentences more. I love all the communication.

Sometimes he plays by himself. When he does, he narrates. It is adorable.

Jasper loves airplanes, trains, trucks, his guitar, and to help in the kitchen. He loves to "season" things with the salt and pepper shakers.

Some of his favorite phrases are:

"Nice day outside."

"I need that."

"Go away mommy."

"Go down, play airplanes?"

"How about mommy read the book?"

"My turn."

"See you soon."

I'm so excited to see what kind of big brother he will be.

Fall Outings

I have really slowed down as my due date approaches. My mom has come to help out with Jasper. It has so been nice to have multiple breaks in the day. As a matter of fact, I'm about to take a nap! But first, I thought I'd post some catch-up pictures of our fall so far.
Harvest Fest with buddy Owen
Helping make apple cider.
A visit to the suburban five acre farm down the road with Aparna and Amitabh.
Can you tell that Jasper is smiling. That piglet is so cute!
This is a small hay maze for kids. I just love this picture.
Hay tossing fun!
Duckling petting.
Heading home.
Pumpkin carving with dad...
Construction worker Halloween costume. We were on our way to preschool.
Owen and Jasper eat some dinner before going trick-or-treating.
Three carved pumpkins and a cat lantern lit the way to our candy. I gave out treats while Jack took Jasper around our street.
The baby says, "Boo!"
Here is another picture from the farm. This soon-to-be-mama pig was laying in her pen, on display, while she waited to go into labor. And there I am, about a month ago, not quite in her situation. At this moment, I am maybe feeling a little more like her, but I'm grateful to have just one baby in my belly and not have a slew of children looking at me all day. Now for that nap...
