The photo word for today is Glasses. Well it's summer, so we have interpreted it as Sunglasses. Jasper has been on the beach the past two days and he loves it! It was so fun to see him go out to the water on his own today. He even grabbed Dad's hand and lead him into the water, back to the beach, into the water, back to the beach...

Somewhere You Sat

We were traveling Friday so this post is late. I have been told that people receiving our posts by email cannot see the titles. In case you missed them, the first photo of the day was Self Portrait and the second was Outside. For August 3rd we have Somewhere You Sat. Jasper is getting a preview of the airplane he is about to sit on.

We are off to a wedding today. Jasper has plenty of family members to meet. We'll try to catch up with another photo post tonight.

Tiny Olympian

We have a daily picture post coming later today, but first we want to bring you some breaking Olympic news. Jasper has taken gold in the toddler medley. Let's see his performance.

First there was the Tupperware Drawer Disassemble.

Oh, just look at the disorder he brought to this kitchen! Well done!

Next there was Bowl Standing.

He starts off strong....

Steady...and he has it! Both feet are in the bowl!

And the last part of the medley is the floor routine. Here is is Jasper's approach...

A fantastic landing. The judges give him a 9.9 and he wins the gold!

Jasper's journey is truly inspiring. A year ago he was no where near giving a performance like you just witnessed. The athlete you see today has worked every day to achieve his dream. Congratulations Jasper!

Picture Project, Backyard Projects

Recently my mom sent me a fun little idea of taking a picture a day and blogging it for one month. She included two lists of 31 ideas, so there is a variety to choose from. Jasper an I are going to give it a shot. When you get the camera out with a one year old, you never take just one picture. Good luck to us. Self Portrait

Here we are on the deck following and afternoon of gardening and playing in the kiddie pool. This assignment forced me to finally use our tripod and figure out the timer on our camera. I also discovered InstaPicFrame.

And now a quick update on our outdoor projects. We recently had the gravel and overgrown garden space in our backyard replaced with grass making it more kid-friendly. Here are some before, during, and after pictures:

So worth it.

This past weekend Jack added more railings to the deck to make it safer for Jasper. He also hung up a swing and made a major design decision by picking up an outdoor rug for the deck.

Deck safety and tot swings are serious matters.

And now, Jasper and I will demonstrate the swing.

That rug really ties the room together.

I was watering the potted plants out on the deck today, I didn't realize how closely Jasper was watching. After I brought in the watering can, he thought he'd give the plants a little extra..

Jasper Visits Dada at Work

I had a nice surprise visit at work today by Anastasia, Jasper, and my sister Molly. Jasper took a little tour of the office, then we all went out to lunch at Kell's in Post Alley. 

"Okay Dada, this is all wrong. You don't have a single Elmo on this drawing."

 "We can fix that pretty easily though. Good thing I'm here. Now, you just hit this button over here and..."

"...whoops. Um, I.T. can recover those files right? Gotta go!"

 "Hello. May I scan those for you?"

"This will never go through. It's folded up all weird. How did this place ever get anything done before I got here?"

"Okay, well, my work here is done. See ya!" 

A Tour of Our New Home by Jasper

Oh Hello. What great timing you have, I am just finishing some blueberries and cereal. Let me show you around my new home.

This is the dining room. I spend quite a bit of time in this room, in this chair (sigh).

This is the kitchen. I have personally opened each of the lower cabinets and have confirmed they all work.

Here we have the living room. The windows are just low enough for me to be able to look outside and keep an eye on birds, neighbors, and airplanes.

Alright, now we can see my room! I have more space which I really like.

Here is the office, my parents still need to sort through things and get organized. I need to talk to my mom about this photo--it's quite dark.

This is my Mom and Dad's room. It's super boring. They need to pick out a window covering, get some pictures on me on the walls, and buy some bedroom furniture. 

Mom and Dad's bathroom is looking pretty good. There is also the main bathroom, but we don't have a picture of that. It's just a bathroom, you aren't missing much.

This is the deck off of the kitchen and a view of the yard. Oh, Hi Annabelle! Our dog has to be tied up right now, but my dad is working on a fence so she can roam around the yard soon. And you can see the water table my aunt and uncle gave me for my first birthday. I love that toy!

Soon the gravel and garden will become a lawn for me to run around on. My parents have a lot of work to do back here.

Now let's head downstairs. I am getting very good at the stairs by the way.

Here is the guest room where my grandparents stay when they visit!

And can you believe I have a huge playroom? This is pretty cool, it features an ABC mat given to me by my grandma and a railroad activity table my parents found at a garage sale. I find many more toys down here too.

Here's a view from the driveway. You may notice a little blue blowup whale--that is a sprinkler for hot summer days. I gave it a lukewarm, somewhat suspicious reception, so my parents will try again later.
