Simple

Simple
It's the last daily photo. This has been a great project. It forced me to figure out how to blog on my new iPad faster than I probably would have otherwise and I discovered that you can say plenty with a one picture post. I might not continue to do a daily post, but I bet I'll be posting more often than I was before August...

The Last Thing I Bought

The Last Thing I Bought

Canning supplies! Our neighbor's plum tree has quite the bounty this year and I am scrambling to get many, many plums preserved. I am also giving plums away - Jasper had his first play date today and all the other mothers each left with a bag. If you live nearby and want some, just let me know. I made one batch of preserves that turned out a bit tart, but adding sugar helps. I'm ready for another go, this time I'm aiming for sweeter results.

Faces

Jasper spent some time running around in the mall play area. He had a pretty good time and has a personal best in socializing.

Sunshine

Sunshine

Jasper is sneaking out of the sunshine in this photo. We had a very sunny afternoon in the park today. I wonder how many summer days we have left?

Dad is making progress on the fence. Jasper popped up from his hiding place to do a little quality control.

Jack is ready to put the boards up on the fence. Jasper is impressed with the quality of the lumber and allows the project to proceed.

Busy

Busy

We discovered a new park today. Jasper kept himself busy climbing everything. I was very busy following him all over and spotting him as he reached new heights.

Home

Home

We live near a small airport, but not in the flight path. Every so often Jasper gets to see an airplane fairly close to us.

I was able to harvest another zucchini yesterday. It was noticed before it reached an unreasonable size. This summer has given us yellow plums from the neighbor's tree, (we had permission), some cherry tomatos, and parsley. We have a small pumpkin on a vine, but I'm not sure it will have enough time to ripen.

I made zucchini cakes for dinner tonight. The recipe took longer than I thought it would and it was a good thing I started it while Jasper was napping. I was halfway through hand shredding the big, big zucchini before I remembered that I have a slicer/shredder attachment for my mixer. Hey, if you have a motor in your kitchen, you should use it. Both Jack and I liked the meal, but I'm not sure if I would make it again. It is a great way to use up some zucchini and have a hearty vegetarian dinner. Here is a little photo collage of some of our harvest, meal making, and the dinner:

Calm

Calm

If Jasper was a couch potato, he'd be a fingerling. Oh, I crack myself up. Don't worry, he isn't watching tv, he is pressing many, many buttons though.

Upside Down

Upside Down

It's bedtime, Jasper is in his pajamas, his teeth have been brushed, and it's time to simmer down. Dad is doing a great job helping with the transition to sleep.

Pair

Pair

We had a very nice dinner in honor of Aunt Molly's Birthday. We had been out of town on her Birthday so it was great to catch up.

Building

Building

A stadium is a building right? Today we went to Jasper's first baseball game, he made it to the fourth inning. The Mariners beat the Twins 3 to 2.

Your Addiction

Your Addiction

My addiction is coffee, Jasper's addiction is Goldfish Crackers. I'm going to have to post some pictures of Jasper eating veggies to make up for the junk food posted lately. And on top of that, he is in a grocery store with no shirt or shoes. How classy.

Food

Food

The first zucchini from the garden! Jasper tried to bite into it. I swear it grew overnight. Not sure what to make with this thing, maybe some zucchini cakes...or just bread.

But wait, I have more photos...

In other news, Seattle reached 94 degrees today. We are not used to such hot weather. I made the desicion that Jasper needed to have his first taste of a Frosty (chocolate of course). It's more sugar than he is used to, but he didn't go super crazy over it. He liked it and hopefully it cooled him off a bit. Here are a few more frosty self portraits:

I have a few more portraits to share because I think they are so sweet. Jasper was ornery today, maybe because of the heat, maybe he was hungry and I wasn't catching on, I'm not sure. As I looked back at the pictures from today, I was happy to see a few happy photos from this morning.

Finger

Finger

Jasper ponders the existential questions found in the roundness of a Cheerio, and the unlikelihood of real goldfish tasting as good as the crackers wedged in his car seat.

Took a trip to a park this afternoon, found a new path to explore.

8 o'clock

8 o'clock

The scene before you started with one book on the floor. Jasper was determined to open each book in his room. He sang and babbled and spent about fifteen minutes creating his little pile. I loved seeing him so absorbed in his version of reading.

A Stranger

A Stranger

A whole flock of strangers actually. I was so happy that we were able to visit Uncle Joe and Aunt Peg's farm.
